YUK FUN is an independent label run by designers Lucy Cheung and Patrick Gildersleeves in Brighton, England. They met while studying the same art and design course at university but, after graduating, both pursued their careers independently. Lucy focused on art, while Patrick was more interested in illustration until Patrick was commissioned by a children’s clothing company and the two of them had the idea to create their own clothing. Lucy and Patrick went on to start YUK FUN in 2014 and, after having problems with the quality of external printers, began screen printing in-house.
Since then, they have printed their designs on t-shirts, tote bags, sweatshirts, and more. Their work has been featured in publications such as Pressing Matters, Hand Printed, and It’s Nice That, and they were invited to speak and exhibit at Pictoplasma. Alongside screen printing, Lucy and Patrick work on illustration for commissions and have collaborated with brands including Linktree, the V&A Museum, and Casetify.

PlusEs interesante lo que muestran, me hizo entender que no era tan sencilla la serigrafía y opté por otra técnica. Hacen cosas muy lindas, pero ellos son poco dinámicos frente a la cámara y hasta transmiten la incomodidad que parece que sienten por momentos.

Totally enjoyed the whole course :) I had previous experience with silkscreen at physical workshops, but I had a lot of learnings as well like how to get the inspirations, real-life views (eg. Keeping the emulsions in fridge and saving the leftovers.. smol advice and tips like this are really helpful when we are in actual situation!), and useful links to real-life view articles like the instagram algorithm.
